Effective March 1, 2010, the State of Indiana’s Unclaimed Property Program has instituted a one-time Amnesty Program to allow organizations that have never filed unclaimed property to do so, without incurring penalties or interest. Participants of the program must enroll and submit the Amnesty Agreement and all appropriate Indiana unclaimed property reports by October 31, 2010.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, any organization can participate in the program given:
- They are not currently under examination by the State of Indiana, or
- They have not been notified by the State of Indiana that an examination is pending.
- They are not in arrears in payment of taxes, permit fees, or other statutory, regulatory, or judicially required payments to the State of Indiana, and:
- They have no current, pending, or outstanding criminal, civil or enforcement actions initiated by the State of Indiana.
For more information as to how your organization can take advantage of this one-time opportunity, please visit the State of Indiana’s Unclaimed Property Page or contact MarketSphere at (816) 559 – 0646.
